We are so glad your son has selected Troop 583 to pursue his scouting career!
The mission of Scouting America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law. Troop 583 reinforces the mission of Scouting America by offering the youth of Santa Clarita Valley the opportunity to grow into responsible, participating citizens while developing leadership and life skills.
Troop 583 meets every Monday at 7:00 pm at Valley Trails Ranch, a fully equipped camp in Castaic, CA. We alternate between Troop meetings, where the entire troop gathers around the campfire for an activity, and Patrol Meetings, where the Patrols meet to plan activities, work on advancement and host teambuilding events. Our Chartering Organization is the Santa Clarita Quail and Upland Wildlife Federation (SCVQUWF), whose primary mission is to support local wildlife through habitat restoration and conservation, encourage young people to enjoy the great outdoors, and to promote participation in a variety of shooting sports.
Troop 583 is proud to offer the premier shooting sports program in the Bill Hart District. Our staff of trained National Rifle Association and National Archery Association instructors are excited to offer a safe, well rounded shooting sports program. Our instructors host monthly events including: Rifle, Shotgun, and Archery Merit Badge Workshops, NRA Marksmanship Qualification, Fun and Competitive shoots. In addition, Troop 583 has a full schedule of campouts and events throughout the year including an active Hiking and Backpacking program.
